the real world.

i'm not sure about YOU-
but i've always been wary of a few world issues; my parents, the news, the newsfeed on facebook, (haha..) and everyday conversation with acquaintances and friends being my main sources of information.

so in that sense, i have known for quite awhile now about the dispute between the palestinians and the israelis. my knowledge for most of the part was this- there's a war for land, something about the gaza strip, palestinians seem to be weaker, israel gets help/weapons from britain and america.
that's about it.

and finally, now, after all this time, after talking to my friend in class about it as well as researching it up on the net- my mind has been blown.

it just amazes me about the true events occurring in those two countries and the main reasoning behind it- and i KNOW for a fact that i'm not the only one complaining about it on a blog. my head hurts so much that i can't even begin to comprehend properly let alone give an explanation as to exactly what i have found out.

after studying nazi germany, the concentration camps, visiting jewish museums as well as listening to people who have escaped the holocaust and fled to australia, being a modern history student myself.. - i ask myself this; how can anyone even begin to compare that to sixty years of palestinian suffering ongoing to this very moment.
we learn about nazi germany in school and everyone has acknowledged the injustice.
if we ever learnt about this world affair, if we ever made famous movies, written books about it- i'm pretty certain that people would do more than just ACKNOWLEDGE it.

and the sad part is- i can't do anything productive about it.
many people view politics as boring and have an 'ignorance is bliss' attitude. in some ways, i'm like that too. but one day, any day, we're going to wake up and found ourselves in a situation we would have read about in the newspaper.

although i haven't really explained exactly what is going on in israel and palestine- just know that the state of Israel was established in 1948, after world war two.
the problem is, in order to establish a country, you need space? you need land? so.. exactly how did israel come to be?
this is how;

hmm.

it's been on my mind for awhile now. and seriously, they can go ahead as to call a three year old a terrorist after illegally occupying and invading an entire country without mercy.
that act in itself is a reign of incomprehensible terror.
i don't particularly like hypocrisy.
